Monday Mornings

Monday mornings around these parts aren't the prettiest. I mean yeah, it's Monday, which means John has to go back to work and I'm on my own at home with the three girls. But really, Mondays are pretty ugly.

Ya see, I tend not to do too much cleaning over the weekend. Since Hubster is home, we try to spend time doing stuff or going places together. A lot of the time, our time is spent on the couch watching TV, but it's together. No interruptions for dishes or any of that boring stuff. Dishes pile up, the dog hair piles up, Adri's pants are scattered all over the place. And it all gets left until Monday morning.

So, this morning, I'll do my usual Monday morning cleaning routine in order to get the house back in shape for the week. I contemplated sharing a photo of the kitchen, but it's bad. Instead, I'll share a few shots from our weekend.

Side note: I make pretty people (:

Weekend Fun

I love the weekends where we all just sit at home together, as a family. The days seem to pass by more slowly when we're not out and about actually doing stuff. This weekend was a nice mix of friend time and family time.

On Saturday, we went to a friends house to BBQ and watched the Notre Dame/Michigan game. The girls enjoyed some slip n slide time while the grown up played cornhole (or bags as some people refer to it). It was my first time playing, and nowhere near as easy as I thought it was going to be.

Sunday was a lot more laid back. The morning was consumed by football. By the afternoon, we decided that we needed to get the kids out of the house.. We made a trip to pick up soil to finally get our vegetable garden planted in the ground. From there, we made a quick stop at Chuck E. Cheese. After a birthday party earlier this year, V has been begging to go back.

Chuck E. Cheese was slightly busy, but not unbearable. Each game/ride is only a coin, and every dollar gets you three coins, so it's actually pretty cheap. Not to mention, everything is rather clean and unlike the grimy Chuck E. Cheese that you picture in your mind.

After being out for less than two hours, we were back home and back to relaxing.

How do you prefer to spend your weekends?

The Last Weekend

It may have been nice to have a quiet time at home this past weekend, but since we anticipate being locked in a hospital next weekend, we made sure to get out of the house and enjoy last weekend on the island as a family of four. We also realize that although we aren't shy about taking our new babies out into the world, juggling three little ones will be exponentially harder than one or two, so it may be a while before we're out and about.

We visited the pool on post for the first time this Saturday. We didn't stay too long, but the girls had a nice time splashing around while we were there. Veronica spent a good chunk of her time showing everyone how she could hold her breath and put her face under water.

As we were driving to the pool, I noticed this little gem. It took me a second (and seeing the picture of Mike) to figure out what the heck a "Yard Thale" was. I chuckled quite a bit afterwards. I'm still pretty amused by it. Some creative jokesters that we have here on Schofield Barracks.

In the evening, we made a trip to Waikiki for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. I love the Cheesecake Factory here, because it seems like one of the few restaurants where the prices are comparable to the prices on the mainland. In case you've never been to the Cheesecake Factory, let me break down the typical evening for you.
  • MUST arrive before 5:00 pm or we'll be waiting for hours
  • Get seated and flip through 256 menu pages. It all looks so good.
  • Order drinks, avocado eggrolls, and the specialty from page 15.
  • Waiter brings bread to the table. Must. Eat. All. The. Brown. Bread.
  • Ask for more brown bread.
  • Entree arrives. The plate is huge.
  • Box up 3/4 of your entree for lunch tomorrow.
  • Split giant slice of cheesecake with your date.
When we left, there was a gigantic line out the door. Seriously. Get there early.

Sunday was our beach day. It was windier and the water felt colder than usual, so the grand majority of my time was spent either in our giant raft thing or laying on the sand. I managed to get some good sun, which I'm happy about, since I'll more than likely be spending my next trip to the beach under a tent nursing a tiny one.

This week will hopefully be spent making final preparations for the babe. John and I put together the bassinet yesterday. It took embarrassingly longer than it should have. I've got to put a dresser together today, so that all of the cute little baby clothes can get sorted and put away.

I also have a doctors appointment today and a long list of questions to ask. Thursday will be my final non-stress test, then Friday should hopefully be induction day. I can't believe she's almost here!

Semi-Charmed Kinda Weekend

Who doesn't love four day weekends?! Thank you US Army! For once, it didn't feel like this one flew by. Maybe because John had to work on the 4th of July but we were actually able to hang out a little while he worked, so it wasn't so bad. Although the weekend was pretty great, the loss of a friend weighed heavy on my mind.

Veronica was in school on Thursday, so we took a trip with Adri and our friends to Chinatown for lunch. I considered taking my big camera with me, but didn't. I'm kicking myself for that now. It was quite the interesting place. And actually, there were many more Vietnamese shops versus Chinese. Lots of produce and stuff being sold on the side of the street. Strange smells coming from the market with a whole pig head just chilling in the cooler.

My Friday started around midnight or 1:00 am with the news that one of John's fellow platoon leaders while we were at Fort Stewart had been killed. I ended up only getting an hour of sleep after that. Although I constantly had the whole situation on my mind, the 4th ended up being a pretty good day.

It was my first time celebrating Independence Day on an Army base, and I was relatively impressed. In the afternoon we walked to where the little carnival was, and the girls got to go on rides. Later on, I returned with a friend to catch a glimpse of the the Third Eye Blind concert. Semi-Charmed Life is one of my all-time favorite songs, but the concert really wasn't all that great. Oh 3eb.. It's been so long. After dark, we were able to watch the fireworks on post from our backyard. We'll probably never live on base again, but I'm glad that we decided to do it here.

One of V's friends from school had a party at Chuck E. Cheese on Saturday. I was seriously concerned about going, and the place being nasty, but it ended up actually being a good time. I took both girls with me while the husband did some golfing. We played a bunch of games, the girls rode on some little mechanical ride thing, and over all just had fun. The place wasn't as dirty as I was expecting, so there was no need for a bleach bath afterwards.

Sunday was that time of the month for me... Pedicure day! I had my nails painted in an awesome neon pink color in honor of the baby girl coming soon. Every time I look down at my toes, I can't help but smile. Seriously, such a fun color! We got together with some new friends for dinner. Surprisingly, Veronica did really well playing with their son. Usually, she hates boys, unless they're older. Adri just kept taking her clothes off.

Today is my 38 week appointment. How crazy is that?! I'm being seen by a doctor other than my usual guy, so I'm hoping she's receptive to my request for an induction. This pregnancy started out with all of these crazy high-risk concerns and telling my how I'd have to be induced early and have to be monitored several times a week. I'm glad that everything has gone normally as far as my blood pressure, but can I please still have that induction that I was promised?

SUP

After the weekend, we're able to cross off a major item from my Hawaiian Bucket List. We finally got a chance to try stand up paddle boarding (SUP)!

Saturday morning we rented a board from the rec center on post, and headed to the beach. The four adults in our group stupidly assumed that we'd be up and riding the thing instantly since everyone we've ever seen doing it made it look simple. That was not the case at all. At all.

No one was able to actually stand up on the board for more than just a couple of seconds. Balancing a huge chunk of foam on the water is nowhere near as easy as it looks. For the most part, we were able to get the kneeling part down though.

Once we had given up for the day, we saw a couple that was helping each other out with the standing part. Duh. By that time we were bruised and defeated, so it was going to have to wait. Along with having no clue how physically demanding this activity was, no one knew we'd end up scraped and bumped up. I have some pretty epic injuries on my knees and feet.

Juli made it through unharmed, but a repeat will probably have to wait until after she's born. Honestly, having to pull myself up without the belly getting in the way was a bit of a pain.

We tried the whole SUP thing again yesterday. The water was pretty rough, so there was virtually no chance that any of us were going to be standing up. I will say that I felt much more comfortable on the board though.

I wish I had pictures to share, but my little buddy Adri stole one of my SD cards again and I have yet to find it. Luckily, this time I know it's somewhere in my house (or possibly the yard or car) and not randomly absent from my hotel room. Hopefully I'll be able to update with photos soon.

Weekend Highlights

Annnd it's Monday again. Why does it always feel like the weekend flies by no matter how long it is? John took leave after returning from JRTC last week, so even though our "weekend" was five days long, it went by much quicker than the typical five day week. Hopefully these next five days pass by just as quickly.

While Hubster was home, we spent a good amount of time beaching. Let me tell you, we needed it! Living in Hawaii is nice, but unless you're taking advantage of the surroundings, it can be just as dull as any other military town. Three beach days in the span of five days definitely made me appreciate having the opportunity to live in paradise.

Wednesday: It was the first time that John got to go watch Veronica do gymnastics. From gymnastics, we headed straight to one of my favorite beaches on the North Shore. We spent a good amount of time catching rays and building castles, before heading into town for Thai food. My parents used to eat Thai takeout all the time and I thought it was the grossest thing. I've had it twice now in the past month or two, and I love the stuff!

Thursday: Anniversary day! I actually spent the majority of the day away from Hubster. He dropped V off at school while I had my 28 week check up. From there he went on a man-date and I went with a friend to get a pedicure and do some anniversary shopping. Oops, I suck at gifts. After school, we dropped V and Adri off at a friend's house and went on a date to Top of Waikiki, a revolving restaurant. It was such a fun experience!

Friday: Another beach day. The weather in the Schofield area was crappy, so we packed up and headed to the other side of the island. We've been wanting to check out Hanauma Bay since we got here, and finally had a chance. It's known for it's amazing snorkeling views, but unfortunately, since it was kind of cloudy I wasn't feeling the full submersion thing. I may have also been afraid of being disappointed by the reefs. We've gone on multiple snorkeling excursions on cruises and have always kind of been let down. After growing up in South Florida, and my dad always owning a boat, I've seen some remarkable reefs. Nothing else has ever compared. Hubs had a nice time snorkeling and saw a bunch of fun fish though. I'm sure we'll go back another time.

Saturday: One of Hubster's friends was heading to training for a month in California, so he threw a Tres de Mayo party. The boys drank plenty while the kids made a mess and the wives lounged around. They made this frozen lemonade + beer drink that I tried a sip of, and I can't wait to make when I'm not pregnant anymore. It was freaking delicious, and I'm sure very dangerous.

Sunday: After a crazy Saturday night, the plan was to have a nice crepe breakfast/brunch and head to the beach. I'm lazy in the morning and we didn't make it out for crepes in time for breakfast. Instead, we decided to do the beach first and then get crepes as a late lunch. Only the crepe place closed long before we were done at the beach. This was our first time going to the beach in Kailua, and we instantly fell in love. The sand was so much softer than anywhere else on the island, and the water temp and wave size were perfect. We ended up getting burgers just before heading home. At home everyone crashed for nap time, followed by a shower and bedtime shortly after. Yay for sleep!

I apologize for not visiting a single blog last week. Now that Hubs is back to work, I'll be attempting to catch up. Or I might just mark them all as read in Bloglovin' and start fresh.

Our Easter Weekend

It was a rather low-key weekend around these parts. The girls and I stayed pretty close to home with all of our Easter activities. Surprisingly, it felt like we did a whole bunch without actually leaving the Schofield Barracks area. Side note: HELP! I becoming one of those that doesn't leave base for anything.

Friday was spent avoiding McDonalds and their delicious cheeseburgers that I've become addicted to. #CatholicProbz. Other than that, we didn't do much other than lounge. The girls went to bed late on Thursday which didn't make for the best moods come Friday.

In the struggle to avoid meat, I figured out the secret to ordering Pizza Hut in Hawaii. Turns out you can't just go to pizzahut.com. It has to be pizzahuthawaii.com. For the longest time, I couldn't figure out why the location closest to out house wouldn't accept online delivery orders. It's because the regular Pizza Hut site is much cheaper.

Saturday morning Jen and her family joined us for an Easter egg hunt over at the PX. I'm not sure my kids were feeling it. Veronica stood there bawling for no reason for a while before deciding to start pinking up eggs. Adri didn't bother with eggs.

From the egg hunt, we headed over to the Earth Day Festival that they were having on post. There were tons of inflatable bounce houses and a few kiddie carnival rides. After the girls rode a few things, we went over to get some snacks. I was standing in line and the lady in front of me was taking her sweet ass time with her four slow ass kids. Meanwhile, the sun is pummeling me, and I'm leaning on a barricade to avoid becoming a heat casualty. I blame not having a decent breakfast. After what felt like a century's wait, I order my soda, chug it, and I'm back in business.

More tears. I think she thought it was going to fly away..?

For Easter Sunday we once again joined Jen and her family for brunch. The girls mostly hung out eating candy or playing with toys, while I was able to enjoy conversation with grown adult human beings. Once we went back home, the afternoon was spent snuggled up on the couch watching Disney Jr.

This week I've gota get my butt in gear and get this place cleaned up and organized. I had a ton or projects that I wanted to attempt to tackle while the husband was doing the Army thing, but I haven't gotten around to them. Hopefully, I can knock something out this week.

Be sure to come back on Friday for a HUGE giveaway that you do not want to miss!

Have a great week!

Date Day

When you move around a lot, finding a trust worthy baby sitter can be tough. In the past, we've always relied on the teenage child of someone we knew to watch the girls. So far, we haven't had much luck with that in Hawaii. Hubster is kind of a one man show when it comes to his unit, and all of the people we know, also have young kids. I'm half hoping that when he takes command, he'll have a 1SG with a teenage daughter.

In the meantime, I'm getting closer and closer to getting on Care.com. And now that I think about it, I'll probably check it out once I'm done blogging. I've had multiple friends recommend it, but something about getting a baby sitter from the internet skeeves me out. I'm sure that it won't be an issue once I'm really desperate to get some hubby time.

To make up for our lack of date nights, Hubster planned a date day over the weekend. Kids included. No worries though, it wasn't nearly as disastrous as you're thinking. In fact, it was a rather nice time.

We started off with a late lunch at Moe's (better than Chipotle) Southwest Grill. I freaking LOVE Moe's'(?) burritos! The next part is where the real fun happened. We went to an indoor bounce house place at the mall. They had four bounce houses set up with one of them being for kids three and under. It was totally empty for the most part, so Hubs and I were able to park it there for close to two hours. YES! TWO hours of almost uninterrupted nothing. And that ladies and gentlemen, is my idea of fun.

Hubster and I chatted a little about baby names, a little about our university trying to buy the fair grounds, laughed every time one of our kids tripped and fell on their faces in the bounce house (which happened frequently). But really, the best part was being able to watch the girls have so much fin tiring themselves out. I wasn't so sure about the $10/kid price tag at first, but it's definitely something I'd be willing to pay again to get a bit of peace and maybe an afternoon nap.

Fun-Filled Weekend

Because of my little announcement yesterday, my weekend post is coming a day late. The drab weather finally let up (for the most part), and we were able to enjoy a nice weekend out and about in Hawaii. The weather has been crappy just about every weekend lately, and staying home has gotten extremely old.

Saturday afternoon started out with a trip to a local food truck rally. The food truck thing really took off in Miami just after we moved away, which has left me intrigued by it since then. I finally had my chance to go! This group hosts monthly food truck get togethers, but they're always in Honolulu, and that seems like a far drive just for food. Luckily, this one was 10 minutes away and it was bacon themed.

I was a little let down that not everyone stuck to the bacon theme, but I was still blown away by all of the varieties of food that were available! There was a Puerto Rican inspired truck that even had bacon empanadas. Holy yum! We walked the entire venue along with some of Hubster's work boyfriends, sampling treats along the way, but since the weather decided not to cooperate, we headed out.

NOT bacon flavored ice cream

Bacon mac & cheese wontons

Waffle dog topped with bacon, cheese & possibly syrup
The rendezvous location was boyfriend #3's house not too far away. The boys drank beers outside, the girls chatted inside, and the kids played and watched TV. In the evening, there was a man-date, and the girls continued to hangout for a little longer.

Sunday was a beach day that Caesar got to tag along on. One of the boy friends live literally across the street from the ocean, and part of the beach there has a dog section. I was afraid to let Caesar off of his leash, and according to the law, you're not suppose to anyway. Plenty of other dogs were, but since my big guy hasn't interacted with anyone lately, I was afraid of him taking off, and not listening. He did well, so maybe next time. If we do a next time.

My sweet boy wasn't a huge fan of the water and definitely wasn't feeling the waves. He had no problem hanging out in the sand and digging huge holes. The other dog that we were with (with no leash) had a great time running into the ocean to fetch a toy. If only my puppy liked the water. Still had a blast though! No little dogs were mauled which made the experience even better.

Our Weekend

Now that I'm thinking about it, it doesn't seem like we did very much this weekend. The weather has been pretty crappy lately, which makes it feel like I've been trapped in a preschool for far to long. Even with the rain, we were able to break away from the monotony of being home with some quick trips out. All the cool kids seem to be doing bullet points lately, so I'm jumping on the bandwagon.

  • Hubster is leaving me. Luckily, it's only for a month. He has to go to the mainland for some temporary duty. He's pretty disappointed that it's to a not so awesome location and isn't somewhere cool like Thailand. I'm still trying to figure out how we're going to survive. I suppose I've done it before with the two munchkins. I just don't wannnna!
  • I started cloth diapering Adri over the weekend. The diapers that I ordered got here on Friday, so I washed them that night and started with her first diaper change on Saturday. I'm very happy with how it's gone thus far. I even ended up ordering more diapers. I'm not a huge fan of her solid stuff, which needs to be tossed in the toilet, but it really isn't that bad. I keep reminding myself that #3 will be exclusively breastfed for many many months, so I'll just be able to throw those diapers straight into the wash.

    • We tried a new restaurant for dinner Saturday night. Because our friends had really hyped the place up, I took it upon myself to read all of the negative Yelp reviews to lower my expectations. It ended up being really good! Hubs wasn't as impressed. Probably because he was expecting a golden piece of ahi on his plate delivered by Ronald Reagan. Should've read the reviews..
    • My boobs have become obscenely large. For me anyway. All of my regular bras seem to cut of my circulation and ability to breathe, so I picked up new bras at Target. I'm not a fan of Victoria and her crappy bras. I didn't feel like trying stuff on, so I guessed at the size and got it right. Holy moly. I can breathe again!
    • The lack of craft stores on Oahu is starting to get to me. I spent hours on Friday Googleing scrapbook shops on the island. All of the ones that came up have closed down. Saturday morning was spent searching online for stores that sell paper by the sheet. I had no problem finding large pads of scrapbook paper, but not so much luck with single sheets. And the shops that had sheets, we're outrageously priced for a sheet of paper. I decided that I'm going to have my sister go to Michael's for me, and send the paper with my mom when she comes back in a few weeks.
This week we have our 20 week ultrasound, where we'll be finding out the gender of baby #3, and V is finally starting gymnastics, yay!

    Have a lovely week!

    The Weekend

It feels like we actually accomplished something over the weekend. Go us!

We spent yesterday running around between hardware stores to pick up a few things for the house. We couldn't find the one thing we originally left the house for. Hubster finally got around to mowing the lawn. We've been living in this house for just over two months, and it's the first time we've touched the grass. We also made some progress on the boxes upon boxes that are still piled up everywhere. This place is slowly coming together! Sloooooowly.

The Olympics are finally over, which I'm rather happy about. Hubster calls me unpatriotic, but really, I just have no interest in winter sports. I might watch the summer games. He gets really into it though. I honestly don't find them all that entertaining. And if we're sending 200 more people than all the other countries, I'd hope we'd win at least a few medals.

Saturday, we went to the beach! It's been such a long time since we've made it to the beach, but it was wonderful! The water was perfect. Back in Miami, the water would still be freezing around this time.

Prior to the beach, Hubs and I washed the Tahoe at one of those DIY car washes. We very well could have just done it in our driveway, but I find these places to be a ton of fun. For $5.50 we were able to lock the kids in the car and have fun alone-ish. I'll take it. Plus with all the red dirt that gets kicked up here, Bertha was in dire need of a bath.

This week, I'm looking forward to some outdoor fun. Since the grass is mowed, I'm going to put the kiddie pool out in the yard and let the girls run around. We played with rainbow rice last week, and I'm really excited to finally make moon sand.

What are your plans for the week?

    Life Isn't a Competition

Wanna know what sucks about Hawaii? I can no longer wake up, type a weekend recap really quick, and still have it posted before 9 am. Nope. It's past noon on the East coast before I even get out of bed. Either way, here is a late weekend post.

Friday was Valentine's Day. Hubs was off, so I really wanted to spend the day watching House of Cards on Netflix. He was slightly against it, since it's not exactly a kid-friendly show. Good thing we waited until bed time. The first episode of the second season started off with a bang. Literally (BAHAHAHAHA). And there was some other graphic stuff. Oh Zoey... If you aren't watching House of Cards yet, you need to! We started watching when it first came out last year, and although I'm not a fan of politics, I was instantly hooked.

So, Valentines's was spent at home, watching the Olympics. Hubster got me a beautiful set of earrings, to replace the ones that he got in Afghanistan, but lost. He also bought our third love fern (it's actually a lily) . Unfortunately, I've allowed the others to die. Thankfully, our love hasn't. For dinner I the lovely meal that I had blogged about, which turned out exquisitely. After the girls went to bed, the night was spent on the couch with a pint of Ben & Jerry's and the ever so menacing Kevin Spacey.

    via

Hubster spent Saturday playing golf. The girls and I hung out at home and cleaned up a little. I had planned on cooking, but instead for dinner, we went over to a friend's house. These are the friends from Missouri who have a daughter born the day after Veronica; we'll call her AB. Normally, Veronica and AB get along great. Lately though, V is so damn competitive and makes it a goal to be the winner of everything. Even the color purple. The evening was somewhat aggravating thanks to this.

AB and family came over on Sunday, which meant more competition. I'd be ok if it was a little race or something along those lines every now and then, but it's literally about everything.

"I finished eating first, I'm the winner."

"I can jump higher, I win."

"My hair is longer, I win."

Monday was more of the same. The boys were looking for shoes, so we headed to the mall. AB and family hadn't been there before, so we swung by their place so that they could follow us. One of the first things out of Veronica's mouth was that we were winning, because our car was in front. Hubs and I are totally stumped. We have no idea where this little competitive spirit came from, but how in the world do we get our kid to be more humble?! It seriously started out of nowhere!

In the meantime, I have to focus on getting her to be better behaved anyway. I'm thinking that if we follow a schedule at home that is similar to the daycare schedule, life might go a little more smoothly for us. I'm also really excited to share a mini project that I've been working on.

    Super Super Bowl Weekend

Happy Monday! Was anyone watching the big game yesterday? I did, kind of. I was mostly in the kitchen chatting. I honestly wasn't really interested in either team, and it wasn't even a good game. After Denver got rid of Tebow, I'm kind of glad they lost. Take that, Broncos!

We had some old(ish) and new(ish) friends over to watch the game, and surprisingly, I had a great time. Normally, I get myself all worked up and stressed out about having people over and making sure everything is perfect. This time, however, I told myself from the very beginning that I would just go with the flow. Everything turned out more or less how I wanted, and I was able to enjoy myself.

We kept it pretty simple with the snack food. I made beer bread, and spinach and herb dip, and everything else was pretty much just tossed on a plate or bowl. Making the dip consisted of mixing Greek yogurt, mayo, and some herbs, so I don't know if that even actually counts as made. At half time Hubster grilled some steaks which were served with rice, black beans, and fried plantains. The hardest part of that for me was putting the rice and water in the rice cooker. The beans and plantains just needed to be heated. Easy peasy. Maybe that's why I wasn't really stressed.

We had a bunch of kids over as well, and other than Veronica freaking out about people touching her stuff, that went pretty smoothly as well. The girls' rooms are sort of set up, but not completely, so it wasn't an issue that there were toys and things thrown everywhere.

Miraculously, my amazing husband was able to take care of the majority of the unpacking, and the house was presentable. I've used pregnancy as an excuse to not do anything lately. The guest room still has a bunch of boxes in it, but we used it for the kids to watch Netflix, which wasn't a big deal. The master bedroom still looks like a tornado blew through it, but I cleverly locked Caesar in there to keep everyone out. He gets a little crazy when he has too many people to play with. He was probably curled up on our bed the entire time anyway, so I know he didn't mind too much.

Saturday was pretty boring. Most of the day was spent cleaning, with a little bit of prep. We also took a quick trip to the mall to pick up two of my rings from Zales. Hubster recently got a ring guard/enhancer thing for a ring that he bought me back in college. Originally, the enhancer didn't fit right, so we took it back to have it adjusted. It looks worse now. I was pretty bummed about it, but just took it anyway. They offered to "try again" but I honestly didn't want anything to come back in worse condition. The worst part was that Hubster was so irked about. He really does try so hard to make me happy.

Other than my ring issue, I had a terrific weekend. I can't believe that they weekend is over already, but with any luck, the week will fly by just as quickly.

    How was your weekend?

    Love, Alex

    Weekend Rewind

Thank you all so much for all of the sweet comments in response to our baby announcement. I am very slowly getting around to responding.

The husband got to join me at the hospital on Friday for one of my two appointments, which was nice. Especially since the girls were in tow.

My first appointment was the physical with my OB. The appointment was scheduled for 10:45 am, and at 11:30 am, panic set in. The girls were in a daycare down stairs, however the daycare breaks for lunch from 12:00-1:00 so they needed to be out of there by then. I knew there was no way I'd make it in time, so I ran down stairs and brought them back up with me before being called back at noon. Normally, I would have been annoyed, but sitting alone in the waiting room for an hour and a half was glorious! There were some other ladies waiting for the same doctor, and they commented that he was totally worth the wait. They were so right.

Aside from being called "kiddo" a couple times. I completely loved my doctor! He was really kind and patient with V and Adri, and even tried to explain stuff to them in terms that they could understand. He did a quick ultrasound, and even showed the girls where all the little body parts were on the baby. Lucky for me, I'll get to see him every time, which is usually pretty rare in military hospitals. Yay for being high-risk! And because he's a doctor and all, and not very good with numbers, there's a possibility that he might slip up and accidentally give me my maternity parking pass a few weeks early. Oopsies.

Hubster got there late, and was waiting in the waiting room. When we were all done with the appointment, we went down stairs for lunch. Because the first appointment was running so late, we had just enough time to eat, drop the girls back off at the daycare, and then make it back upstairs for my ultrasound...which was also running late.

After waiting another 45 minutes, Hubster and I were finally called back to see our littlest munchkin. It was a busy little creature and kept moving it's legs and arms all over. Even though this is my third go around, I didn't realize that there were little appendages this early on, but there are! Towards the end of appointment, after confirming that I was exactly 12 weeks along, the ultrasound tech asked if we were interested in knowing the gender of the baby. She said it wasn't guaranteed, but even at this stage of development, there are indicators. EEK! We'll have to wait until the 20 weeks appointment to know for sure.

On Saturday we walked the big mall with some of our friends. I was finally able to buy the only pair of shorts currently on the island of Oahu. Before coming here, I figured you could find shorts year-round at every store, but that's not the case at all. Currently, there are plenty of sweaters and jackets available, and I have no idea why. Miami doesn't even do that, and they actually have cold days.

My neighbors hosted a yesterday, for the neighbors to get to know each other. It was a really nice event, and it was nice getting to know everyone who lives on our block. So far, I have really enjoyed living on post. In the past, I've never had neighbors introduce themselves, much less host a get together for all of the neighbors to mingle.

All in all, a very exciting weekend for the four and a half of us. Today I am going to attempt to put together a good shopping list, and see if I can get my grocery shopping done for the next two weeks. The commissary is normally packed to the brim, so I'm going to try my best to do all of my future shopping on the day before pay day. Hopefully, some advance planning can save me from waiting in line for half an hour.

    Short & Sweet

Hello friends! I apologize for neglecting you lately! It's been a tad crazy in our house for the past few days.

Hubs and I spent most of yesterday packing up all of our clothes into suitcases. During the week, I'll have to focus on the rest of the stuff that the movers won't take, like ALL of my Scentsy or our liquor collection.

Today I'm heading to Hobby Lobby once again. I've gotta pick up some last minute care package supplies. The Etsy shop has been doing surprisingly well. The holiday themes seem to be pretty popular, so I'd like to knock out some Thanksgiving and Christmas ones before my machine gets packed away next week. Who knows when I'll get it back.

My friend is driving today, so hopefully I'll be able to at least visit a few blogs. Once life slows down a little bit, I hope to be more active in Blogland. I should have plenty of time for that while we're in Florida.

Hope everyone had a great weekend, and your week is off to a great start! I'll recap our weekend later on this week.

    Love, Alex
