Happy Child Super Nutrition Shakes

I received this product complimentary for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

Raise your hand if your child is a picky eater.. I know it just keeps on getting worse with my girls. It seems like each time I serve dinner, there is something new that they refuse to eat. As a parent, I obviously worry if they're getting enough nutrients on a daily basis.

I was thrilled when Happy Family asked if I'd be interested in trying out their new Happy Child Super Nutrition Shakes. Each of the chocolate or vanilla shakes contains eight organic fruits and vegetables, and no artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners. The eight grams of protein and 21 vitamins and minerals available in each serving are sure to help balance out even the pickiest eater's uneven diet.

V chose to try the vanilla flavor, so Adri got chocolate. I tried a little of each. I was pleasantly surprised when Veronica's eyes lit up after her first sip. From there, there was no taking the drink away from her. It was the perfect afternoon snack between a bowl of rice for lunch and untouched pasta at dinner. Personally, I preferred the flavor of vanilla drink. Both flavors had a nice consistent texture. Sort of like a thicker milk drink, but not overly thick. If that makes sense.

Since the shakes don't need to be refrigerated, they're the perfect option for busy days when you know meals will be coming from a drive thru. You can just toss them in your bag and go! Four-packs can be found at a Target, select Safeway stores, and on Amazon.com.

Happy Family Best Friends [Review + Giveaway]

I received two Happy Family Best Friends in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.

I've been a huge fan of Happy Family Brands ever since I was first introduced to their products last year. Happy Family is an organic food brand which was founded and is operated by moms. Their products are packed with premium ingredients which contain various health benefits such as important vitamins, minerals, and probiotics. Most recently, I was given the opportunity to try out the new Happy Family Best Friends toddler cookies.

After first, I was a tad skeptical about how these cookies would taste. They're whole grain gluten-free cookies for toddlers with no added milk or soy. Really, how good could they be..? Well, let me tell you, they're good!! SO good, in fact, that I hogged most of one of the two packages for myself.

Best Friends come in two tasty flavors: honey buckwheat and chocolate pumpkin, in the shape of man's best friend. They're the perfect size and shape for little fingers to feed themselves. The honey buckwheat flavor reminded me a lot of a certain circus-themed box of cookies, minus all of the nasty artificial preservatives. I wasn't a huge fan of the chocolate flavor, but that could just be pregnancy related. Hubster and Veronica devoured them.

I was extremely happy with the taste and the girls' reaction to these cookies. They are definitely something that I'd purchase in the future for snack time.

You have an opportunity to try out Best Friends toddler cookies as well. I am giving away a Happy Family prize pack which includes: 2 Best Friends (one of each flavor), a tote bag, a nutrition guide, and additional Happy Family coupons. The giveaway ends at 12:00 am on February 28. The winner will have 48 hours to respond.

World Food Day 2013

One in eight people suffer from chronic hunger on this planet. It's a sad truth that there are approximately 842 million hungry people around the world. World Food Day, October 16, aims to draw attention to the malnutrition and poverty across the world. The theme for this year's World Food Day 2013 is Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition.

There are plenty of ways for everyday people to get involved in this growing movement. On their website, World Food Day USA, maps out events happening in your area. If you are unable to locate an event or attend one in your vicinity, there is always the option to create your own! If you're feeling uninspired, the website has some suggestions to help you out.

In this day and age, it's a tragedy that anyone should have to go hungry. Obviously we are the lucky ones, and I feel like it's our duty to help the less fortunate. As we were cleaning out our house these past few days, I set aside some unopened food items that will be making their way to a local food pantry.

Recently, I was selected as a Happy Blogger, for Happy Family Brands. I'm ecstatic to be working with this brand, because not only do the girls love their healthy organic snacks, but the company is dedicated to helping the community. Happy Family Brands has partnered with Project Peanut Butter and the Feed Foundation to help end hunger.

What can you do to help end world hunger?

Love, Alex

Giveaway Winner!

Something exciting happened the other day! I received a tweet from Dara that I had won a contest over at Not In Jersey. Good thing she tweeted me too, or else I would have never known.

Remember back in the day when Facebook was brand new, and you had to be a college student to use it? Yeah, well my college email address is still the one hooked to my Facebook. However, I can't access it, since I never set up security questions. Since Rafflecopter logs you in via Facebook, I can't even imagine how many giveaways I've possibly won, yet had no clue. I'm trying to change my Facebook email now, except I must have used my personal email to create a fake account to creep on people, and it's giving me issues.

In addition to winning a contest myself, I'd also like to announce that Jamie from Handling With Grace, has won the Happy Family Organic Superfood giveaway that I was hosting on my blog.

Jamie is also one of the hosts of the Wednesday Walkabout, so please check that out and link up if you have a chance today.

Have a great day everyone! I'm slowly becoming more organized, and vacation is so close, I can almost taste the salt water.

Happy Family Organic Superfoods [Review + Giveaway]

I don't know about other moms, but for my kids it's nearly impossible to get them to snack on something in the healthy category. Obviously I'm not feeding my kids total crap, but I know there are better options than Goldfish, Cheez-Its, and fruit gummies. Enter Happy Family Organic Superfoods. An organic family food brand packed with premium ingredients and health benefits.

I was lucky enough to be contacted by Happy Family to do a review and giveaway of their products. One of their Happy Mamas came by my house to deliver coupons to get myself some free products. Happy Mamas are community representatives who are available to answer your questions and educate through samples and classes. There are currently some availabilities for military moms and dads to become representatives at their installations.

When it came time for us to travel to New York, I knew that some of the Happy Tot fruit and veggie pouches would be perfect! The girls love snack pouches, and they're convenient to just toss in a diaper bag with no refrigeration required.  They don't contain any artificial flavors or preservatives, which in my book, makes them even more kid friendly. Each girl got a Happy Tot pouch. Apple and butternut squash for Veronica and strawberry, kiwi, beet, pear for Adri. V wasn't a fan of the squash, so we switched pouches, and everyone was happy. In defense of the squash, I tried it and it wasn't bad at all. She's just picky. Each pouch has a significant amount of Vitamin C, which I see as a plus to avoid picking up yucky germs when out and about.

The girls were both HUGE fans of the Happy Munchies and Happy Yogi snacks. I will definitely be purchasing these again. I got them Munchie puffs, since they've always loved puffs. These puffs were a lot like Cheeto Puffs in taste and texture, minus the crazy furniture-staining orange stuff. Hub and I both tried them and we were fans. The great thing about the puffs is that they're made with whole grain corn, and organic cheese with carrot, and they contain significantly less sodium than other toddler cheese snacks. These Munchie puffs also contain choline, which helps with healthy brain development.

Happy Yogis are yogurt melts which are made with organic fruit and yogurt. They melt easily in your mouth, which makes them baby friendly also. Thankfully, Adri didn't drool them out all over the place like she has in the past. I think it's safe to say that she loved these too.

Happy Family products aren't just for kids either! I was able to try an adult "Treat", and it was quite the treat! The Caramel Apple Treat packaging says that it's "a guilt-free dessert", and it is just that. You get a half cup of fruit per 100 calorie pouch. Totally a win-win! What adult doesn't love eating from a squeeze pouch anyway?!

Happy Family brand products are available at DECA Commissaries, Whole Foods Market, Super Target, and other major grocers. You can use the store locator to find the retailer closest to you with Happy Family products.

Even if you don't win the giveaway, I would suggest purchasing one or two products to try. They aren't expensive at all, and I couldn't think of anything better snack for a child than one that is both mouthwatering and nutritious. Happy Family makes products for babies and children of all ages.

And now for the giveaway! The contest will run for a week and end at midnight on April 10. Contest is open to US only. Happy Family will be sending the winner coupons for free products of the following items:
    • (1) Happy Yogis
    • (1) Happy Tot Meal Bowls
    • (1) Happy Tot Plus
    • (1) Happy Tot
    • (1) Happy Munchies
