Ch-ch-changes

So, it's been two and a half-ish weeks since my Jules was born and I'm pretty much fitting back into my pre-pregnancy clothes. Well, at least the stuff that was slightly loose on me before Juliana. I'm not cleared to exercise yet, which means that up until this point, it's been lots of breastfeeding and drinking lots of water that have helped me shed the extra pounds. Although I'm making fantastic progress so far, there are a handful of changes that I'd like to make in order to actually get healthy and possibly fit back into some pre-Veronica jeans that I have hiding in my closet.

I've been drinking extra water in an effort to stay hydrated and avoid issues with producing milk for the baby. Throughout my pregnancy, I used the excuse of being pregnant to drink soda. Before that, it had been probably four or five years since I had even purchased the stuff for the house. If I don't buy it, I can't drink it, right? I'm back to my no soda rule. Sure, I'll buy it if we're having people over or occasionally if I'm thirsty at the Target checkout lane, but no more 12-packs in the cart every time I make a trip to the grocery store.

I've slacked in the meal planning department lately. I've just been having such a hard time deciding on a week of dinner ideas that everyone enjoys, while not having the same exact thing week after week. I'm going to have to force the husband to help with ideas other than the typical "food," that I usually get from him. We should probably add salads back to our meals. Filling up on the leafy stuff helped us avoid overeating. I'm loving my spinach smoothies that I've gone back to making every morning.

One major change that is going to give me some peace of mind, is finally creating a solid daily routine. I'd like to carve time out to focus on fitness. We have a small gym in our community center that I can use to finally get rid of the little pooch that I've had since having Adri. I've even considered joining a Stroller Strides program.

Getting the girls on a good schedule should hopefully make life as a mom of three a tad easier. My plan is to loosely follow the schedule that they're already following in preschool. If I can get everyone to nap at the same time, we'll be golden!

Oh. And speaking of preschool, my Adri starts tomorrow for the first time! With my big girls gone all day, and my tiniest one napping for a good amount of time, I'd like to actually post thought out blogs instead of the recent randomness coming from my iPad as I lay in bed.

  1. I use Pinterest to find a lot of recipes that I make. I usually try 1-2 new recipes a week, and then make tried and true dishes for the rest of the week. I haven't gotten back on the meal planning wagon since the move (or the gym wagon for that matter), but hopefully I'll get back into a routine soon.

  4. I don't know how some parents function without a solid schedule in place. I'm sure it works that way for some people but I am not one of them. :)

Meal planning is such a pain some weeks and my husband always suggests blah sounding food. Pinterest is my go to for new food and I really try to have 3-4 new recipes in a week. Salads are definitely the way to go right now...the produce can't get any fresher and you don't have to heat up the kitchen.

  5. I like a solid routine too, but I am dreading Ace going back to school. He only goes a couple days a week for a few hours at a time, but I am not excited about it. ha! He loves it so that's all that matters right? ;)

  6. We should restart Meal Planning Monday. You can post your meal, and I'll post my varied selection of different cereals, hahaha.

  7. Way to go on the weight loss! 6 days postpartum and I'm still wearing maternity clothes, but I'm down 11 lbs. I have been drinking way too much soda still and not nearly enough water.... thanks for the motivation to make the switch, though!!! If I want to lose this weight and fit into something when I go back to work, I'll need to get a move on!

  8. I also hope to have the energy and time to focus on fitness after the baby is born. I am really bad with the pop drinking during this pregnancy. I crave it all the time, but try not to keep any in the house. I hope you get into a nice scheduled routine soon! I definitely need that in my life to stay sane.

  9. That "food" comment is totally something my husband would say! lol. This post has inspired me to do more too. I think I've been slacking and a routine would sure help. :)
