Slackin'

This precious little nugget turns two tomorrow, and guess what her parents have done to prepare for it? Not. A. Damn. Thing. I couldn't tell you if it has to do with second child syndrome or the fact that we've been living in a hotel for close to a month, but there are no gifts, no cake, no plans.

With the madness of Christmas shopping, somehow I forgot that I needed birthday gifts also. Thankfully, Adri is still young enough that she won't be permanently scarred. Hopefully next year, I'll plan a little bit better.

Originally, we were planning to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial, since it's Pearl Harbor Day, but it would be a long day and not so pleasant for a little one. I imagine there are probably a ton of visitors that day, so we're better off visiting some other time.

So far, we're thinking that we'll pick up some cupcakes and head over to one of the lagoons. Hubs has been working long hours, so hopefully he'll be home early enough this evening that I can swing over to the PX for a gift. The plastic bag gift wrapping is just going to have to do.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Love, Alex

  2. You've had so much on your mind! And being in a fresh new duty station, it's a little distracting! I don't think you're slacking. Happy birthday to your little one! :)

  7. Aww happy birthday, sweet Adri! And you are right -- at this age, they hardly recognize that its a certain calendar day. Take her somewhere fun, fawn over her and let her make the choices for the day -- what to have for breakfast, that kind of thing. Those are the fun things kids remember -- not what present they got on what birthday!

  8. She lives in Hawaii and gets to go to the pool or beach every day. I don't think she'll notice the gift wrapping :)

  9. Aww ... Adri is going to be TWO! My nephew Aiden is five today -- I totally forgot that Adri and Aiden had the same birthday. Happy Pearl Harbor day to both of them! :)
Don't worry about slackin' mama -- she won't remember. Next year will be better.

  10. Awww happy birthday to your little chickadee! I hope plenty of tasty cupcakes were consumed.

I'm already sooooo excited to move back to Hawaii, but seeing photos of your little ladies enjoying the water is making me even more excited to have my daughter spend her first few years there. Can't wait to get out of miserable Missouri and to the warmth and sunshine!
