Starting Fresh

Let's try this again.. In January, I said that I was going to attempt a fresh start at getting my life organized. You know, doing yoga and showering everyday, maybe attempting to keep the house clean.. That went well for a week, and well, I haven't really been consistent since then. Today, I'm trying again. It's the first of the month, V is at school, it seems like a good day to start.

Lately, I haven't felt like doing much of anything. I'm just going to blame that on pregnancy. Part of it might also have to do with the fact that I can't do anything for more than 15 minutes without being interrupted. I'm working on getting the girls and I on a good schedule. Part of that schedule is going to have to include quiet time to allow me to focus.

As a kick start to today, I got a bunch done around the house yesterday. The kitchen was spotless, for the first time in what feels like forever. I did a decent job vacuuming and even managed to squeeze in some laundry. I've printed out some to-do lists and a new April version of my blogging calendar to stay on track to be able to concentrate better on my goals. I'm totally a list person.

One of the short term goals that I'm trying to focus on is meal planning again. I'd really like to make myself a recipe book, with all of my favorite recipes printed out and divided into categories. This way I don't have to spend so much time searching for dinner ideas and recipes. With Hubster leaving soon, I'd also like to give freezer meals a trial run, so that we don't starve to death when the baby is born in July. Recipe links and suggestions are welcome!

Have a happy April!!

Love, Alex

  1. I LOVE fresh starts! Sometimes it can be so hard to find your groove. And my gosh you all have had a crazy busy time transitioning lately :) I love the idea of meal planning & having a stockpiled idea binder to help. Happy April!

  2. I've slacked on the cleaning of the upstairs. It's been a week. I try to do it every Friday but I've failed. I need a fresh start and to start working out again.

  3. Freezer meals are so nice! I have used them with each baby, and I plan on using them again when my husband deploys. I have found some meals I make are huge, so I will divide them. Cook half for dinner, and then freeze the rest. I would invest in some aluminum pans, decent plastic storage, and gallon freezer bags so you aren't using all of your regular cooking dishes. Here is my pinterest board for freezer meals: http://www.pinterest.com/angiescott79/freezer-meals/ I have other recipes not on pinterest if you are interested.

  4. Cleaning!!! Ugh...I just feel like I wake up with a target goal/area to clean everyday and it just never happens. Or its half assed! And I am fully to blame because most of my day is dedicated to redecorating just about everything. haha!

  6. I need to get better at cleaning stuff. And cooking. Blah. I should probably work on making other things. I tend to stick to stuff like spaghetti, tacos, or sloppy joe's.

  7. You can find recipe binders if you want something fancier than a plain binder. And freezer meals are great. I also like to do ingredient prep like chopping and freezing veggies.

  8. I'm currently sitting on the couch, trying not-so-desperately to find the motivation to clean this house up. It is filthy. And I am lacking the energy to do anything about it. I might make a list though, because even just making a list makes me feel more productive. LOL

  9. Spring is a great time for fresh starts -- I can definitely tell a change in my own mood now that the sun is shining more, the temps are warming up and we are able to get out of the house a little bit to play. I'm in a better mood -- my house is clean[er] and the kids are happier! Hopefully you have a successful start to your new plan!
