Our Get Together

In case no one has noticed, I have a tendency to build events up in my head and then freak out about them on the blog. Football and dinner at our house on Saturday turned out perfectly fine. The boys drank on the couch and the ladies BS'ed in the kitchen. That's how it usually works, right?

My only complaint is that I made way too much chili. Twice as much as was needed. Like we'll be eating chili for the rest of the week, too much. So much that I sent Hubs to go buy me another Crock Pot, which was full of chili that wasn't even touched. But hey, now I have two Crock Pots!

While he was at the store picking me up a new cooker, Hubster also grabbed some serving dishes and flowers. Ladies and gentlemen, he's a winner! Not to mention that he shares the same elevated standards as me when it comes to entertaining.

So along with the chili dinner we had: deviled eggs, spinach and herb dip with chips, corn bread, and an apple crumble for dessert. The guests brought a fruit and vegetable tray and this yummy eclair dessert.

All in all, it was a good time. I really like get togethers like this because it gives the wives a chance to connect. The boys hangout all day in class, and since it's a training course, there really isn't an FRG or a need for one.

Love, Alex

  4. Glad to hear it all worked out as you planned. I say freeze the chili in smaller portions. You can always reheat some for lunch or a quick dinner one night!
