The Weekend

It feels like we actually accomplished something over the weekend. Go us!

We spent yesterday running around between hardware stores to pick up a few things for the house. We couldn't find the one thing we originally left the house for. Hubster finally got around to mowing the lawn. We've been living in this house for just over two months, and it's the first time we've touched the grass. We also made some progress on the boxes upon boxes that are still piled up everywhere. This place is slowly coming together! Sloooooowly.

The Olympics are finally over, which I'm rather happy about. Hubster calls me unpatriotic, but really, I just have no interest in winter sports. I might watch the summer games. He gets really into it though. I honestly don't find them all that entertaining. And if we're sending 200 more people than all the other countries, I'd hope we'd win at least a few medals.

Saturday, we went to the beach! It's been such a long time since we've made it to the beach, but it was wonderful! The water was perfect. Back in Miami, the water would still be freezing around this time.

Prior to the beach, Hubs and I washed the Tahoe at one of those DIY car washes. We very well could have just done it in our driveway, but I find these places to be a ton of fun. For $5.50 we were able to lock the kids in the car and have fun alone-ish. I'll take it. Plus with all the red dirt that gets kicked up here, Bertha was in dire need of a bath.

This week, I'm looking forward to some outdoor fun. Since the grass is mowed, I'm going to put the kiddie pool out in the yard and let the girls run around. We played with rainbow rice last week, and I'm really excited to finally make moon sand.

What are your plans for the week?

  1. Ooo I'd love to go to the beach.

I didn't watch much of the Olympics either.

  2. I don't think I have seen a single second of the Olympics this year, I am much more a summer Olympics girl.
The DIY car washes are our favorite thing to do on Saturday. The girls like to giggle as daddy 'washes' their faces.

I'm spending this week in 'me time heaven' while my husband is on a business trip and the girls are in school. Lots of writing, crafting, photo taking and reading....yay!

  3. What a fun weekend! :) We usually watch the Olympics only because that is the only interesting thing on around that time. :)

  4. I'm not into the Olympics either. They just are not appealing!
I wish the water was warm here, it's freeeezing.
Our weekends were very similar, we went to Lowes, the beach, mowed the lawn. haha

  5. FUN!!! I can't wait until we can see our grass again in a few looooooong months! During the "summer" here I just let the kids out in the yard and its the best feeling to see them spend hours out there and not cooped up in the crazy fever inducing cabin that is our house!

  6. I'm jealous that it's warm enough to mow grass. After almost a week of 50-60 degree weather, there's still snow here. I'm over it.

  11. I love the summer olympics and could watch just about any sport in them, but the winter olympics -- I'll pass for the most part. We didn't watch much of it at all.
