As much as Hubster and I love each other, we both agree that yesterday was our worst anniversary yet. It even beats out last anniversary, when he was in Afghanistan. In case you aren't following me on Twitter or Facebook, one of our vehicles was broken into last night when we stopped at a hotel on the way to Fort Leonard Wood. Lucky for us, we think that the thieves only got away with two suitcases of clothes, some Army gear and paperwork, our laptop, and a small amount of jewelry.
Even luckier for us, we have a friend who is PCSing with us and outside who was walking one of her dogs. She was able to alert us to call the cops, while getting a good description. I was able to see them taking stuff after we were alerted and while on the phone with 911. It was pretty scary to watch it all from our hotel window.
The cops were relatively quick with their response, but it didn't stop the thieves from getting away. Even with a helicopter, they weren't able to find anyone/anything. Once we have an opportunity, we're going to have to sit down and make a list of everything missing for the police and the insurance.
This morning before hitting the road we stopped by Target to get ourselves a few new outfits. It was the first time ever that I was pissed to be in Target. Hubs reassured me that we'd have a nice shopping spree once we're reimbursed by USAA. I guess that's the only major positive outcome of this situation.
Now that we're at Fort Leonard Wood, I hope to be able to properly celebrate our anniversary. Even though yesterday was sucky, I'm elated that we've been married for four years. The time has flown by and it never feel like it's been that long. I'm also glad that none of us were hurt and the thieves only got away with relatively easily replaceable (although expensive) items.
Because of this incident and moving in general, some of my posts, such as my Cara Box reveal have gotten pushed back slightly. I'd like to thank Cailtin though for the amazing thoughtful box. It was perfect for me. I'll be posting about it very soon!
