New Kid on the Block - Guest Post

Just driving around the Fort Leonard Wood area, there are already so many places that I can't wait to check out. There are two water parks, one on post and one off, that look perfect for the girls. We're not quiet settled yet, so Nickhol has an idea what's currently going on in my life. I'm getting excited to be able to go explore Missouri, but we have some stuff to take care of first. In the mean time, check out this guest post about Washington (one of the places we hope to go after this).

Hello MunchkinsAndMilitary readers! My name is Nickohl and I'm the writer over at ApronsAndAnchors. :)

This post was inspired since I myself had to say goodbye to a place I had known for quite some time, and say hello to a brand new place where I knew a total of 1 person... my husband. The joys of military life!

It's not all bad though. but let me tell you, my move was QUITE the adjustment for me. Where I grew up, I had to drive 30 miles to school (up and down hills.. in the snow.. etc.) to go to a dying out mall I had to drive 2.5 hours, 4 hours if I wanted to go to a good mall! I didn't have a movie theater in my town so I had to drive yet another 30 miles to see that the movie theater is playing the same movie it was 3 weeks ago. Basically, I lived in an extremely small town..

Then I moved 2,600 miles away into a world unknown (Washington).

When my husband and I first got here, it was only a couple days until my birthday, so automatically he wondered where he could take me out to dinner and he said Olive Garden since it IS my favorite after all. I googled the closest Olive Garden... 5 MILES AWAY?! I thought this was so crazy! Oh, and the mall... 5 miles away! I have to get on the highway to go anywhere! The road ways are so intricate. This is completely different than having to dodge potholes on nearly every road I did drive on.

There's such beauty in the city I live in. Yes, there are things to do, but there are still some beautiful parks, and waterfronts.

This little cozy spot is just 10 miles from my house, just on the other side of the busy little city that I now call home.

This is the little pier out at Silverdale Waterfront. To get this picture (I'm sorry for the detail of it, but I had to take these pictures with my phone. Right as I turned my camera on it told me that the battery was exhausted. ): ) I had to walk on the pier, down  a ramp, and walk on over to this platform that shifted with weight. To say I was scared would be an understatement. My husband had to basically coax me on it by saying how beautiful the view was.

And the sign to view the waterfront in front of the pier. You might see the gloomy clouds in the background, but the day we went here it was beautiful. A little chilly, but the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and it was simply perfect. A great way to get us out of the house, and enjoy where we'll be living for the next 3 years together.
